| Welcome to SKILERS HAVANESE/HAVANA SILK DOGS home on the Internet. Best friends are bred here. We are dog breeders in Iowa. We raise one litter a year in our home. If you want a healthy dog who is fun to own, our Havana silken Havanese known as Havana Silk Dogs are the right choice. Our dogs are for pets, show-dogs, therapy, agility and rally. These dogs are very intuitive. Some of my pups have gone on to become Therapy Dogs; one even alerts on grand mal seizures. Besides being a love-bugs, they are very smart and trainable. They originated in Cuba where they were held for centuries by the aristocracy. We are delighted to introduce you to a toy dog who is not hyper and steals your heart. The Havana Silk Dog meets the strict criteria for full registration with
the Havana Silk Dog Association of America. Eligibility requires
passing all health testing required to receive a CHIC number from
Orthopedic Foundation For Animals (www.offa.org); and all dogs
must pass a conformation evaluation by a certified evaluator of the
HSDAA; have a DNA on file with AKC; as well as, be certified
chondrodysplasia free. All Havana Silk Dogs at this time, meet the
standard of the AKC Havanese but not all Havanese can or will meet
the criteria for an Havana Silk Dog. Many Havanese breeders claim
to have Havana Silk Dogs; however, only certified HSDAA dogs are
legitimate. If it is not a CERTIFIED HAVANA SiLK DOG™ it is a
